Synopsis
When her mom moves in with her rich new fiancé, Maddie Sinclair’s life goes from trailer parks and thrift stores to a pampered life of luxury on the rich side of town. Her soon-to-be stepdad gives Maddie and her siblings everything they could want, including unlimited access to a credit card. Maddie transforms into a new person over Spring Break. What she doesn’t expect is that everyone thinks she is a new student. Maddie’s new sports car and designer clothes draw in the mean girls, who are nice girls to her now. Boys want her attention and girls want to be her friend. Maddie finds herself crushing hard on Colby Jensen, and for the first time ever, the popular guy actually likes her back. Colby Jensen grew up in his brother’s shadow. His parents expect him to be the best even though they’re struggling to get the bills paid while maintaining the façade of a perfect life. Colby is sick of pretending like everything is perfect, and he is totally over dating stuck up princesses at school. Then he meets Maddie and wonders where she’s been all his life. She’s genuine and makes him laugh. When he’s around her, he can forget about the drama at home. Just when things are becoming perfect, a secret from Maddie’s past emerges, threatening to destroy her popularity and everything she’s become. Maddie knows Colby wouldn’t want anything to do with who she used to be. Colby just wishes she’d give him a chance. From the bestselling author of Summer Unplugged and Ella's Twisted Senior Year, In Plain Sight is a young adult romance told in dual point of view. Contains mild profanity and romantic scenes.

If you are on the search for a quick and sweet high school romance for the long Thanksgiving weekend, then do I have the perfect book for you! In Plain Sight by Amy Sparling was an extraordinary read that I purchased back in August, but finally decided to sit down and give it a look through. It took me about an hour and a half to read through this book and I have to say that it was well worth the $2.99 Kindle price! The story follows a high school senior, Maddie Sinclair on a journey of self-discovery and learning to overcome even the worst of obstacles. Growing up, Maddie has always dreamed about having enough money to in their bank account to feed and clothe her younger sisters without having to worry about the financial stress. It’s Spring Break and all Maddie is worry about is making sure that there is enough food in their trailer to feed the girls for the long week ahead. However, upon returning home she discovers her mom packing up their trailer, the place they’ve lived for the past four months, announcing that she’s engaged and they’re all moving into his house. Suddenly, Maddie is thrust into a life she never imagined and lands the type a guy she has always wanted. Unfortunately, when a secret from her past emerges, everyone discovers she’s not exactly who she’s been claiming to be… Overall, I absolutely loved this book and would strongly recommend it to any young adult readers out there looking for a fast-paced and clean romance! I honestly cannot wait to hopefully download, In Every Way, a companion novel to In Plain Sight sometime over the Thanksgiving weekend!
Excerpt
Maddie Spring Break is a double edged sword. On the one side, you get out of school for a total of nine days. Nine glorious days of sleeping as late as you want, wearing whatever you want, and spending time with family. Okay, most teenagers might not put the family part in the Spring Break Pros column, but I’m not like most teenagers. My little sisters, Emma and Starla, are my favorite people in the world. Emma starts kindergarten this year and Starla just turned two, so they’re still young and adorable and generally, the best. The downside of Spring Break? It’s only a week to do all of those things. Then it’s back to school for me, back to daycare for them, and the nightmare that is my life goes on as regularly scheduled. Mom doesn’t get a Spring Break. Vacations— paid or otherwise— aren’t exactly in the Savings Mart vocabulary. The multi-million-dollar chain of grocery stories prefers to work their employees day in and day out, for very little pay and even less respect. I take a deep breath and let my head rest against the window of school bus number forty-three. It’s Friday, school is out, and I’m almost home. I don’t know why I feel so bummed about life right now. Spring Break . . . rah rah . . . woohoo. Maybe it’s because, no matter what Mom says about promising to give us a better life, I know it’ll never happen. Maybe it’s because we’ve spent four whole months here in Louetta, Texas and I haven’t made a single friend. Unless I count Jacoby Anderson. And I don’t count Jacoby Anderson.
