Bib·li·o·phile Fridays #3 - Time Capsule!

Bibliophile Fridays is a brand new weekly meme hosted by me and Foxes and Fairy Tales on our blogs and for more information you can check out our Goodreads group. We have created this weekly meme in honor of the bibliophile population (we are a dying breed you know)! We are super excited to share this with out readers and we hope you will all join us in our fight to raise awareness for the bibliophile population...

Just a reminder that this is the last week to sign-up for the Giveaway that my co-host is currently hosting on her blog in promotion for our new weekly meme! Head on over to her site to enter for the chance to win $20USD to spend on BookDepository!

Without further ado here is this weeks theme... Time Capsule! Pick 5 books that were published during the year you were born (bonus points for anyone who manages to find one on their actual birthday)!

Alice the Brave by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Series: Alice #7

Genre: Teen/Young Adult, Contemporary Release Date: May 1, 1995 (my birthday!)

Buy Now: Amazon WILL ALICE'S SECRET RUIN HER PERFECT SUMMER? It's August, and the whole gang is having a terrific time, hanging out at Mark Stedmeister's swimming pool -- except Alice, who has a secret even from her best friends Pamela and Elizabeth. Alice is deathly afraid of deep water, and just as afraid of what will happen if her secret gets out.

When disaster strikes, it's even worse than Alice imagined. How can she face her friends? And how can she face her boyfriend, Patrick, who's coming home from summer vacation and looking forward to joining the eighth grade swim team with Alice?

About Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Phyllis Reynolds Naylor was born in Anderson, Indiana, US on January 4, 1933. Phyllis has written over 80 books for children and young people. One of these books, "Shiloh," was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1992, was named a Notable Children's Book by the American Library Association and was also Young Adult Choice by the International Reading Association. Naylor gets her ideas from things that happen to her or from things she has read. "Shiloh" was inspired by a little abused dog she and her husband found. The little dog haunted her so much that she had to write a story about him to get it out of her mind. Connect with the author: Website / Goodreads

I have been reading the Alice series since I was 8 years old, so it was a no-brainer to feature one in this meme. On another note, Alice the Brave (Alice #7) happened to be published on the day I was born! The final Alice book, Now I'll Tell You Everything (Alice #25) was published on October 15, 2013 and I'm sad that there will be no more Alice, but the author did an extraordinary job at ending this series! If you haven't read the Alice series then what are you waiting for? Go read it now! I cannot wait to one day pass this series on to my future children.
